Katsina State Rural Infrastructure & Economic Revitalization(KARIER)
The Katsina State Rural Infrastructure & Economic Revitalization Program (KARIER) is an initiative of the State government through the Ministry for Rural Development. The program is designed to address critical rural development issues in the state, especially the issues of unemployment and massive rural infrastructural deficit. This is necessary to ensure that rural livelihood is significantly improved in line with global best practices as enshrined in the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations. Rural communities across the State have been neglected in the past and now are often characterized by decayed infrastructure, lack of vital social amenities and often have large reservoirs of unemployed or underemployed youth whose poverty and lack of economic opportunities put them at risk of engaging in delinquent behaviors.
